client to locate an exceptional:Senior Vice President, Engineering
PureDepth is an innovative technology organization
founded in 1999 that has quickly established its reputation for
its patented technology that is transforming the visual display
experience by delivering award-winning display technology. Backed
by 45 approved patents, this breakthrough in visualization is the
first display technology that provides actual depth. The Company
has, among others, a manufacturing license agreement with DRS Technologies;
a sales, marketing and distribution license agreement with Sanyo
Corporation in Japan, a worldwide licensing agreement with International
Game Technology and business in medical, financial and consumer
markets. PureDepth is headquartered in Redwood Shores, California,
with an engineering center located in New Zealand.
PureDepth is looking for a highly motivated
and experienced Senior Vice President of Engineering to lead Pure
Depth’s technology and engineering team. The SVP, Engineering
will be a key member of the executive staff. S/he will be responsible
for aligning the technology vision with the business strategy, and
take the firm’s current robust technology and IP portfolio
to mass consumer market execution. The company’s focus is
to advance its unique display technology into partnerships with
major tier one Display and LCD companies.
Key Responsibilities:
· Oversee the design and specification
of semi-custom chip sets or FPGAs and work to improve display addressing
schemes to be more specific to MLD.
· Understand hardware and control of dedicated real time
processors and issues relating to all video formats.
· Ability to manage and recommend such controller modification
to various manufacturers.
· Familiar with In Circuit Emulators (ICE), logic analyzers
and other circuit diagnostic equipment.
· Familiarity with overseeing and managing the development
of computer modeling techniques for MLD in areas of thermal and
acoustic management.
· Understand and direct electro-optical characterization
methods of LCD devices in the areas of color consistency, saturation,
resolution, and subjective image quality, and contrast, gray scale,
viewing angle, response time and crosstalk.
· Manage a team to understand, develop, and implement innovative
MLD-specific optical effects and applications through manipulation
of birefringence, elastic constants, retardation, and alignment.
· Define the technology direction and strategy for the business
· Manage diverse offshore and onshore engineering and QA
teams in Redwood Shores, California and Auckland, New Zealand
· Work with Product Management to define and prioritize the
product and engineering roadmap
· Oversee product deliverables, releases and schedules
· Manage teams and define processes to ensure a high quality
of product
· Work with operations in architecting and ensure that the
deployment is scalable, redundant and monitor-able
· Work with vendors on key evaluations and purchases
· Work closely with technical teams to ensure optimal integration
strategies
· Identify and extract patentable work, work with engineers
and legal to file patents
Qualifications -
the requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge,
skill, education, experience and ability required:
· 10 years experience in a wide range of applications related
to: Engineering, Management, Product development and Manufacturing
release
· Direct understanding and in-depth experience with LCD technology,
its development and implementation
· Key understanding of thermal management
· Significant knowledge of the LCD industry as well as knowledge
of key companies and suppliers
· Understanding of emerging technologies such as OLED and
competing technology such as auto stereoscopic displays
· Must have managed offshore teams
· Demonstrable problem solving skills – ability to
solve complex problems in the face of time pressure and resource
constraints
· Attention to details and commitment to quality
· Ability to work in a fast-changing, dynamic, startup environment
· History hiring and mentoring talented staff
· BS/MS in EE or Computer Science
Personal Attributes:
· Excellent interface skills, both internally with the rest
of the executive team and directly with customers and investors.
The SVP will play a key role in advancing the Company’s positioning
with investors in the public markets.
· Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal
written.
· Ability to architect and lead in all aspects of display
hardware technology development as well as establish core software
applications to augment that technology
· Detail oriented; experienced in driving design/development
methodologies; capable of tracking and analyzing progress on all
aspects of the project
· Self-starter. Works with minimal direction from top management,
and brings outstanding communication skills to report progress and
difficulties in a timely manner
· Able to work with marketing to develop a set of specifications
that will meet the market’s need and subsequently design a
system to achieve those requirement
The appropriate candidate will need to have broad
cultural experience, and will be required to manage the engineering
team in New Zealand (visiting approximately every other month) as
well as traveling to Asia to work with key customers and partners.
This candidate will also be building and managing staff in the U.S.
This position reports directly to the CEO
